VIRTUAL TOURS
When industry leaders use the phrase ‘virtual tour’, they don’t mean a slideshow of panoramic photos, and they don’t mean shaky video shot on a smartphone. They mean an interactive tour that allows the user to ‘walk around’ a property from any computer, smartphone, tablet, VR goggles or other internet-enabled device.
At Red8, we exclusively use the Matterport camera system for interior-only virtual tours, and the all-new Kuula tour for aerial/ground combo tours. A series of sensors take high-resolution photographs and 3D space data, and mesh them together to create a complete virtual rendering of your property.
See our Gallery page for examples!
Absolutely! Utilizing our custom-built aerial drones and the all-new Kuula virtual tour system, we can seamlessly combine interior and exterior 360° data to create a virtual tour that includes both indoor AND outdoor locations!
Absolutely not. Most of our clients provide us access to the property (either by providing a lockbox code or opening the property themselves) and then are free to do whatever they like while we scan. Most spaces up to 2,000 square feet can be completed inside of an hour.
In the era of COVID-19 and social distancing, the no-contact process of virtual tour creation is becoming more and more popular.
If the property is staged, make sure:
- All furniture is where you’d like it to be in the final tour
- There are traversable footpaths from room to room, wide-enough for a person
- Turn on all lights and open all windows; the more light, the better
- Make sure everything is clean; fingerprints on mirrors and dirty sinks are easy to see!
If the property is not furnished:
- Clean as much as is necessary to present the property as well as it should be
- Make sure there are footpaths from room to room, wide-enough for a person
- Turn on all lights and open all windows; the more light, the better
For interior-only Matterport tours, the answer is ‘no’. Our camera systems shoot in High-Dynamic-Range (or HDR), meaning even the cloudiest of days will appear bright, clean, and clear in the final tour.
For exterior-inclusive Kuula tours, the weather will have to be precipitation-free and not too-windy; let us know when you’re thinking of having it made, and we’ll make sure the conditions will be just right.
Matterport and Kuula tours can be embedded in websites, shared on social media and pretty much anywhere else using the codes we’ll provide you once the tour is complete.

DRONE MEDIA
Nope! Our staff are all FAA-licensed and certified small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) pilots. When you book a drone flight with us, we contact the local airports, the FAA, and anyone else who might object to us being in their airspace, and make sure that you won’t run into any problems.
Our customized aerial platforms shoot in 4k, and take high-resolution photographs. We follow up each aerial shoot by polishing the media captured in editing software like Adobe Lightroom and After Effects. Just take a look at our Gallery for gorgeous examples of what our drones can do!
In extreme cases, yes; our most skilled pilots can navigate the interior of a property to capture footage or photos (such as the inside of a warehouse). However, in an overwhelming majority of cases, a simple DSLR video camera will do the job much better. Just let us know you’d like interior video as well, and we’ll bring the regular camera along!
If you need a continuous, unbroken shot, our drones can cover up to 2 miles at a time, depending on a series of factors (weather, terrain, local signal interference, etc). If we’re able reposition ourselves between clips, we can cover a property of any size.
When you hire a professional drone pilot, you’re not really paying for the drone. You’re buying that pilot’s legal right to fly without breaking the law, their experience operating drones smoothly, and their artistic eye for making your property’s features stand out.
Drone media is one of those “you get what you pay for” types of service, and when you decide you don’t want to pay for it, boy is it obvious.
